We are pleased to see 5G4LIVES featured in the latest European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) Spotlight, highlighting projects that contribute to protecting people and the environment in the face of growing climate-related risks.
The Spotlight showcases 5G4LIVES as an example of how 5G-connected drones can strengthen emergency response and civil protection, providing earlier situational awareness, remote assessment capabilities and real-time information in hazardous or difficult-to-access environments.
Among the project’s achievements, HaDEA highlights the successful drone demonstrations in Riga and Turin, the development of a web-based mission planning and risk assessment tool, computer-vision capabilities for analysing live drone video, and the first open-access 5G4LIVES training package.
Importantly for our team, the Spotlight also highlights the ongoing development of a replicable methodology for assessing 5G coverage, network performance and time delay in the actual airspace used by drones. The methodology is intended to provide transferable guidance for cities and organisations preparing future 5G-enabled drone operations.
Being included in the HaDEA Spotlight is a great recognition of the work carried out across the 5G4LIVES consortium and demonstrates the wider potential of the project’s results for emergency response, civil protection and environmental monitoring across Europe.
