The implementation of the project "Development of experimental quantum communication infrastructure in Latvia" (Project number: 101091559, Project acronym: LATQN Call: DIGITAL-2021-QCI-01) continues.
From 01.10.2024 to 31.12.2024, the following activities have been carried out:
- Quantum key distribution (QKD) encryption transmission tests within the healthcare sector have been completed;
- Tests with the financial sector have been started;
- Continued work on the use case tests with wireless tech integration with QKD;
- All partners continue the integration of QKD with classical data transmission devices. We foresee continued work on more advanced data transmission integrations. On the QKD topic, lines of varying length have been tested (16km, 20km, 40km, 50km etc.);
- Continued planning on the public sector work package;
- Implementation of the action plan to address the improvement areas identified in the European Commission review of the 2023 Project’s period and the implementation review has been completed (updated risk register, publicity and communication plan updated, necessary schemes developed, and necessary corrections incorporated in the Project’s deliverables);
- Continued involvement in the broader EuroQCI community. Coordinators participation in regular EuroQCI Technical Working Group meeting in Belgium, Brussels;
- Continued project presentations to stakeholders and scientific communities;
- Confirmed extension of the Project’s implementation period of six months (until 31.12.2025).
